Abstract
877,836. Alternators. FIMAG FINSTERWALDER MASCHINEN G.m.b.H. Oct. 10, 1957, No. 31681/57. Addition to 844,688. Drawings to Specification. Class 35. In a modification of the alternator excitation arrangement described in the parent Specification the rotating core 7 of the current transformer 5 is flattened in accordance with the number of poles so that the transformer flux is a function of the physical phase-angle of the main machine. This means that proper compounding may be achieved without the vectorial addition of the current and voltage components, so the tapped ring winding 4 may be replaced by an ordinary three-phase winding and the current and voltage components rectified and fed to the field winding separately. The voltage component may be derived from a separate stator winding as in the parent Specification or from the terminals of the main output windings through chokes. The machine may be regulated for parallel operation by an additional adjustable resistive loading of the currentcomponent rectifier. The rotating transformer may be separately driven by a synchronous motor fed from the main machine.
