Abstract
576,226. Alternators. MANDL, A., and METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Nov. 15, 1943, No. 19042. [Class 35] An alternator has on the stator carrying the primary winding an auxiliary D.C. system which induces A.C. in coils on the rotor for feeding the main rotor exciting system through a rectifier carried by the rotor, the auxiliary D.C. system having a number of poles differing from that of the main winding. In the form shown the main rotor exciting winding 2 co-operating with primary winding 1 is fed from rectifier 5 supplied with current induced in winding 4 by auxiliary D.C. winding 3 on the stator windings 2 and 4 also 1 and 3 may be combined, e.g., by winding the primary 1 as double star with a D.C. source connecting the twostar points. A transformer also carried by the rotor may be inserted between the rectifier and winding 4, and two rectifiers may be used.
