Abstract
752,219. Spring wheels. SOC. APPLICAZIONI GOMMA ANTIVIBRANTI S.A.G.A. SOC. PER AZIONI. Jan. 18, 1954 [April 20, 1953], No. 1506/54. Class 144 (1). In a resilient wheel of the kind comprising a rim 1 with two radial side flanges 3, 4 embracing a central radial flange 5 of a coaxial hub 2, there being two resilient rubber rings 6, 7 interposed in axial pre-compression between the rim flanges 3, 4 and the hub flange 5 respectively, one or each rim flange 3, 4 is detachably secured to the rim 1 and engages therewith at complementary conical mating surfaces 8 formed on the rim and the or each flange. Fig. 1 shows the rim 1 with an integral flange 4 and a detachable flange 3 which is secured to the rim by bolts 9 passing through holes in the flanges 4, 5, 3 and rubber rings 7, 6. In Fig. 3 the bolts 9 are dispensed with, the flange 3 being secured in position by a split resilient locking ring 15 engaging in a groove 16 in the inner periphery of the rim 1. The rubber rings may be bonded to the central hub flange 5 and one of the rings 6 may be bonded to its relevant rim flange 3, the other ring 7 being bonded to a facing ring 11 which, on assembly of the wheel is located in a recess 12 in the fixed rim flange 4. Through openings 13 are formed at intervals near the outer periphery of the flange 3 to ventilate the annular space 14 enclosed by the hub and rim flanges and the rings.
