Abstract
743,475. Electric motors. RANSFORD, A. J. (Pavlecka, V. H.). Aug. 13, 1951, No. 19069/51. Class 35. [Also in Group XXVI] Synchronous electric motors 26, 28 drive the rotors 36, 38 respectively of a contra-rotating radial-flow compressor. The compressed air passes through hollow rotor shafts 18, 20 to outlet ducts 109, 110, the shafts being insulated by sleeves 103, 104 to reduce heat transfer from the compressed air to the motors 26, 28. The inlet duct 97 of the compressor may be provided with ventilation ducts 99, 100 for the supply of cooling air to the motors 26, 28.
