Abstract

727,680. Rotary furnaces. WIENERT, F. O. July 18,1952 [July 18, 1951], No. 18282/52. Class 51 (2). [Also in Group II] A rotary furnace for the production of spurge iron from iron oxides and solid reducing material comprises a shell 4 and a stack 12 and is fired by a burner 13. A fan 1 supplies air under pressure to a rotary joint 2 and a pipe 3 which divides into two branches 6, 7 passing to the outside of the shell. Branch pipes 8 from the pipes 6, 7 lead to the interior of the kiln and discharge air in the direction opposite to that in which the products of combustion from the burner 13 are travelling. Each outside tube 6, 7 may have an individual blower driven by an electric motor mounted on the kiln, Fig. 2 (not shown).
