Class 78 (1) A unit for assembling articles discharged from a conveyer system comprises a conveyer table and drive means actuated by switch means responsive to the discharge of an article from the conveyer system on to the table to move the latter through a pre-determined distance Whereby a succession of articles may be assembled along the conveyer table with regular spacing irrespective of the frequency of discharge from the conveyer system. Stereo plates 11 are fed from a shoot 14 to a conveyer table comprising endless belts 4, by a device 10 which is pivotally mounted by arms 13 on a frame 1 and swing to and from a vertical position by a crank rod 16 actuated by the conveyer driving motor 7. The plates are supported on the device 10 by an arm 15 which, when the device moves to its vertical position, enters the gap 6 between the belts and sinks below the belts to deposit a plate thereon. Each plate as it falls on to the device 10 actuates switch means 18 whereby the motor 7 operates to drive the belts 4 through a pre-rletermined distance and move the device 10 to its vertical position. The switch means 18 or separate switch means is arranged to switch off the motor when the device 10 returns to its plate-receiving position. Specification 651,036 is referred to.
