Class 6 (3) Relates to a lifting and lowering appliance for working parts 36 pivotally mounted on an agricultural machine so as to be movable by the rocking of a lever 2 secured to a shaft 1 rotatably carried by the framework 5 of the machine. According to the invention, the lever 2 has a subsidiary lever 11 pivoted to its upper end and adapted, upon successive pulls on a cable 25, to release latch mechanism 10, 15, 17 locking the tools in their raised or lowered positions and thereafter to permit the tools to fall into ground-engagement or cause them to be raised by a continued pull on the cable. The lever 11 is associated with a fixed member 23 carrying pegs 6, 7, one of which (6) serves as a pivot for a retaining hook 15 which holds the tools raised by engaging a projection 16 on the lever, Fig. 6, and the other peg 7 co-operates with a hook 10 on the lever to hold the tools in their lowered position, Fig. 2. With the system in the position shown in Fig. 2, a pull on the cable 25 first releases the hook 10 and then moves the system to the raised position, Fig. 6, where the hook 15 engages the projection 16. A further pull on the cable causes the end 18 of the hook 10 to strike the end 26 of a detent member pivoted to the hook 15, so that the latter is unlatched to permit the tools to fall. The system is applied to a swath-turner having raking heads 36 pivoted on shafts 34 and linked by adjustable rods 21 to arms 20 on the rock-shaft 1.
