[Class 78 (iii)] [Also in Group I] A lever device for raising weights has a weight-balancing spring 11 connected by a rod 10 and pin 9 to one end of a lever 1 which is pivoted to a pin 2 carried by a bar 3 and quadrant 4 fixed to a frame 6, 7, 8, 8<1>, and a cable 16 connects the lever with the weight to be raised. The other end of the spring is adjustably connected to frame - member 8<1>. A pawl, situated behind lever 1 is adapted to be withdrawn by the handle on lever 1 from a notch, also not shown, and can be released to engage a second notch 12, the two notches defining the limits of motion. As used on a tractor, members 8, 8<1> are secured to the tractor frame and a bar 13 connects the upper end of bar 3 to the differential housing. This housing may also support a member having a pulley on its outer end around which the cable may be passed to raise its line of action.
