Abstract

650,392. Agricultural implements. LEWIS & SON, Ltd., G., and LEWIS, G. L. April 30,1948, No. 11943. [Class 6(i)] A cultivator comprises a number of tool frames 15 mounted by parallel links 12 on a frame which includes a pair of parallel bars 2 carried between rollers 4 on a wheeled carriage F, the bars and frames being traversable laterally by means of a lever 5 and the toolframes being raisable in unison through a wheel-operated lift device 39. The tool frames carry tools 14 adjustably mounted thereon and are supported by links 22, mounted on a shaft 2<SP>1</SP>, each link having a spring-loaded lostmotion connection 24 with its tool-frame permitting some freedom of vertical movement. The shaft 2', together with the parallel bars 2 and rods 10 to which the links 12 are attached, is mounted between plates 3, the whole structure thus formed being traversed across the carriage F by the lever 5. The tools may be lifted in unison by a lever 25 which controls a half-revolution clutch 39 mounted on one wheel W. and actuating a bell-crank lever 29 which is attached to an arm 32 fixed to the shaft 2<SP>1</SP>. The frame carries a seat at the rear end and an adjustable clevis at the front end, the clevis being vertically adjustable by a screw 71 and having spring-loaded jaws 60.
