A hand lift mechanism for the working tool of an agricultural im plement comprises a rotatable shaft 14 carrying rigidly a lift arm 20 connected to the tool, e.g. cutter bar 12, an arm 21 also rigid on the shaft 14 and having a lift handle pivoted to its end at 23 so that during part of its movement the handle may fulcrum on the shaft 14, and a roller 31 forming a second fulcrum for the handle during another part of its movement. Arms 20, 21 are urged in a clock-wise direction by a spring 17 anchored at one end to the main frame 10 and at the other pivoted on an arm 15 rigid with the shaft 14. The roller 31 is mounted between spaced bars forming a slide 30 which carries a pad 32 slidable over the shaft 14, the slide 30 carrying at its other end a compression spring 36. The handle comprises a double member 22 to which a member 24 is pivoted, the member 24 having a second pivot on a bracket 25 on the member 22 adjustable in a number of positions. To lift the cutter bar 12 the handle is rotated clockwise, the member 22 fulcrumming on the shaft 14 which is rotated; at the same time the member 22 acts on the roller 31 so compressing the spring 36, and, when the spring is tight, the member 22 changes its fulcrum to the roller 31. In the fully lifted position of the cutter bar a hook 40 welded on the member 22 engages a pin 41 carried by the slide 30. A second arm may be provided on the shaft 14 to be used as an alternative to the shaft 21, Fig. 1 (not shown).
