Abstract
617,548. Mowing machine-lifting mechanism. PARSONS, D. J. Oct. 5, 1946, No. 29783. [Class 6 (iii)] A lifting mechanism for the knife assembly of a grass mower of the type having an operating lever actuating a single pivoted lever is characterised by having a connecting member 10 pivoted to the pivoted operating lever 4, the other end of said member 10 being pivoted to the end of one arm 8<SP>1</SP> of a crank lever, to the other arm 8 of which is pivoted a lifting member 13 pivoted at a point 14 to the knife assembly or its support, the said mechanism being so disposed and proportioned that, in the raised position of the cutter bar, the points at which the connecting member is pivoted to the crank lever and to the operating handle respectively, are substantially in a straight line with the pivot of the operating handle. An adjustable spring 16 is provided and assists in the raising operation.
