Class 78 (1) In a portable belt conveyer, particularly for use in mines, comprising a driving head section 1, belt-supporting sections 2, 3, and a tail section 4 provided with a loading platform, the belt being constructed in detachable sections whereby a length of the belt and a section 2 or 3 can be removed or inserted as required, the various sections are provided with wheels 18, the wheels of the sections 2, 3 being mounted on U-shaped brackets 20 having reduced portions 21 on their vertical limbs engaging in slots or sockets 22 on the sections 2, 3, the brackets being locked by pins 17. The driving head 1 carries a drum 6 surfaced with rubber or the like and housing the driving motor, and a tension roller 7 mounted in bearings 8 slidably mounted between flanges 9 having holes 11 for receiving a pin 12 which holds the roller in the appropriate tensioning position. Each section 2, 3 comprises two parallel tubular members 16 secured in spaced relationship by transverse tie bars adjacent their ends. The members 16 of the sections are secured together by dowels 15 on the members of the section 3 engaging sockets 13 in the members of the section 2, each dowel and socket having a diagonal hole to receive a securing pin 17. Sockets 13 are also formed on the driving head 1 to receive dowels 15 on the section 2, whilst the platform is formed with dowels 15 which engage in sockets 13 on the section 3. Idlers 23 are mounted on the shafts 19 and between the members 16.
