[Class 78 (i)] Relates to a conveyer of the kind comprising a frame having two arms arranged endwise with rotary members at its ends, at least one of the arms being pivotally mounted at its inner end so that the relative angular position of the arms may be varied, and a single endless chain or belt extending over both arms and round the rotary members. According to the invention a support is provided for the part of the upper run of the chain or belt at the inner ends of the arms, which support extends in the direction of the length of, the conveyer and is mounted to rock about a horizontal axis so that the part of the chain or belt supported by it can accommodate itself symmetrically to changes in position of one or both arms. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, the conveyer comprises a pair of endless chains 22 with slats 24, extending around rotary members 18, 20 supported on arms 14, 16 pivotally mounted on a shaft 38 on a portable frame 10. The portion of the upper run of the chains between the arms is supported by a table member 44 having legs 46 engaging over the shaft 38 whereby it may rock to accommodate itself to changes in direction of the upper run when either or both arms are rocked by the jacks 36. The table member 46 is supported by ramps 48, 50 fixed on the arms 14, 16. The conveyer chains 22 are driven by sprockets on the shaft 38 which is connected by a belt 53 with a sprocket 52 driven through reduction gearing 32 by the prime mover 26. Sprocket wheels 56, 58 normally serving as idlers, may be coupled to the driving means to supplement the driving sprockets on the shaft 38. The prime mover may comprise an electric motor. The conveyer may comprise a belt instead of the chains 22. Specification 572,019 is referred to.
