Abstract
705,287. Sack holders. SIMS, W. H. April 21, 1952 [May 2, 1951], No. 10254/51. Class 58 In a bag holder comprising a pair of frames pivoted together about a vertical axis bagsupporting abutments are attached to the frames and another abutment is carried by a member adjustably attached to one of the frames in such a way that the abutment which it carries is displaceable outwardly to stretch the mouth of the bag more widely open. As shown a pair of frames 10, 11 forming approximately triangular three-legged structure are pivoted together by tubular sleeves 12, 13 on a vertical leg 14, fixed lugs 16, 17 being mounted on one frame and a fixed lug 19 on the other frame to which also is pivoted at 23 a spring-loaded lever 22 carrying a lug 21 and around which lugs the mouth of a sack B is supported and is held open when the frames are held in the opened-out position by a peg 33 engaging in holes in co-operating plates 30, 31 of the frames, a further tensioning of the bag mouth being obtained by outward movement of the lever 22. A member 37 attached to the rail 20 projects into the path of the mouth of the bag where it tends to extend in a straight line between the abutments 17, 19 and ensures this portion of the mouth of the bag being firmly held when stretched. A ratchet and pawl device instead of the plate 30, 31 may be used to hold the frames extended.
