Abstract
A fertilizer consists essentially of ammonium and magnesium single or double sulphates in which the ratio of magnesium to nitrogen is 1 : 2-3. Phosphates may be present, the magnesium : phosphorus ratio preferably being 1 : 0-8. Potassium and calcium salts may also be present. Examples relate to a mixture of ammonium sulphate and magnesium sulphate the Mg : N ratio being 1 : 2.62 a mixture of ammonium schonite, ammonium sulphate and superphosphate, the ratio Mg : N : P being 1 : 2.5 : 0.8. The fertilizers may be obtained by simple mixing or by crystallization of hot saturated solutions. Specifications 230,796 and 309,175, [both in Class III], are referred to.
