Abstract

A fertilizer comprises in admixture an ammonium salt or salts (excluding ammoniated superphosphate as an initial component) and one or more components containing basic substances, capable of releasing ammonia from ammonium salts, equivalent in amount to not more than 3.0 per cent by weight of free lime, together with an acid buffer salt, whose saturated aqueous solution at 0 DEG C has a pH value of not more than 5.0, in a proportion amounting to from 0.5 to 10 per cent by weight of the sum of the weights of the other components, the fertilizer having a free-moisture content of not more than 5 per cent by weight. Buffer salts specified are: ammonium, potassium and sodium dihydrogen phosphates, monocalcium phosphate such as super, double and triple phosphates, citrates, oxalates, tartrates and phthalates. Basic substances specified are basic slag and ground or calcined rock phosphate which may contain carbapatite, hydroxy-apatite, calcium carbonate, sodium calcium phosphate, free lime and calcium silico-phosphate. Ammonium salts specified are the sulphate, phosphates, nitrate and chloride. Specifications 283,194, [Class III], 359,020 and 455,703 are referred to.
