Abstract

Mixed fertilizers containing ammonium nitrate e.g. ammonium sulphate nitrate, are stabilized by applying to the granules of the fertilizer fused mixtures of magnesium nitrate with one or more alkali metal nitrates, including ammonium nitrate, with or without one or more alkaline earth metal nitrates and/or urea. The mixture of salts applied may be a eutectic mixture, say, of magnesium nitrate, calcium nitrate and sodium nitrate, and may be sprayed on to the fertilizer whilst the fertilizer is being agitated. Specification 372,388 is referred to.ALSO:Mixed fertilizers containing ammonium nitrate are stabilized by applying to the granules of the fertilizer fused mixtures of magnesium nitrate with one or more alkali metal nitrates, including ammonium nitrate, with or without one or more alkaline earth metal nitrates and/or urea. The mixture of salts applied may be a eutectic mixture, say, of magnesium nitrate, calcium nitrate, and sodium nitrate and may be sprayed on to the fertilizer whilst the fertilizer is being agitated. Mixed fertilizers specified are ammonium sulphate nitrate and fertilizers containing ammonium nitrate and potassium chloride with or without diammonium phosphate. Specification 372,388 is referred to.
