698,794. Stanchions and girders. ATKINSON, W. O. March 23,1950 [March 3, 1949], No. 5791/49. Class 20(ii) A stanchion, girder &c. comprises a pair of channel section booms 1 connected by angle section braces 2 arranged back to back at 45 degrees. to the booms, mitred at the ends and secured to the beams by fillet-welds across the booms and to each other by welding their edges where they intersect. Stiffening plates 6 are welded to the ends of the booms. The braces of a girder may be crossed by further braces forming a lattice girder.
