Abstract
603,574. Roof trusses. JANOVSKY, F. Dec. 29, 1944, No. 26124. [Classes 20(ii) and 20(iv)] A roof truss comprises two rafter frames 2, 3, a horizontal tie frame 4 and vertical hangers 5, 6, and is self supporting when lifted into position on the building walls, which may comprise posts 14 as described in Specification 603,573 spaced apart the width of a truss,. and sheet material 36. Each rafter frame is made up of two longitudinal angle bars 7 and a number of crossbars 8, the tie member similarly comprising longitudinal bars 23 and cross bars 25; diagonal bracing 31 may also be provided conveniently in the tie frame. Brackets 13 welded to the lower ends of bars 7 are bolted to the posts and to the ends of the tie frame bars which fit within the rafter bars. The hangers 5, 6, are secured between brackets 21 at the ridge and bolted at the bottom to lugs 28 on the middle cross bar of the tie frame. Adjacent trusses may be connected by links 40 and bolts passing through holes 42 in the rafters which, being spaced apart by the upstanding arms of the brackets 13, allow the passage of bolts holding down cover strips for the roof'sheets. Or the brackets may be welded inside the rafter flange if the spacing is not required.
