Abstract

656,361. Tents. PIGGOTT, C. H. Jan. 7, 1949, No. 494. [Class 20(i)] A marquee comprises side and end walls constructed of stanchions 10 joined by latticework 11 roof trusses 12 supported on the side wall stanchions and carrying a canvas roof 19 and a ridge hood 24 providing ventilation under the lower edges. The roof truss comprises main beams. 15 and a vertical member 22 all interlocking and pinned together at 16 and supporting a triangular member 21 which provides the apex of the roof supporting the centre of the hood 24 by means of a tubular metal ridge member 23. The lower end of the member 22 is braced by tie rods. The canvas roof is supported on metal tubes 18 carried by the roof trusses. Single way marquees may be juxtaposed to form a multiway marquee by omitting bracing members 14, extending and joining roof truss bracing members 17 and providing a gutter.
