Abstract
689,702. Tents. SILVER & EDGINGTON, Ltd. [trading as EDGINGTON (SILVER & EDGINGTON, Ltd.), B.], and ATKIN, A. E. June 7, 1951 [June 8, 1950], No. 14379/50. Class 20(i) A tent roof comprises a downwardly inclined water-proof member 44, e.g. of canvas, anchored at least at its upper edge to ridge-supporting rafters 12, 13, a downwardly inclined upper roof portion (not shown) overhanging, and spaced from the member 44, the lower edge of the upper member being supported, e.g. through tie ropes fastened to an anchoring tube 38, by the lower ends of beams 39 secured at their upper ends by connecting means, e.g. clips 40, 41, to the rafters 12, 13 at a point above the upper end of the member 44. The member 44 hence intercepts drops from the upper member. Each pair of tubes 12, 13 forming a rafter is plugged at its upper and lower ends into sockets 19 fixed to transverse beams suporting guttering 45. The member 44 is connected to wooden strips 42, 43 extending across the rafters. In a modification to improve ventilation (Fig. 4) the anchoring tube 70 is mounted near the top of the tent, the upper member 72 being confined to the area adjacent the ridge of the tent. The canvas water-proof member 74 is secured to a tubular portion 73 at its upper edge and is conventionally secured at its lower edge. Specification 689,700 is referred to.
