698,361. Wound-board-making machines. WALMSLEYS (BURY), Ltd., and TEMPERLEY, J. May, 15, 1952. [May 17, 1951] No. 11513/51. Class 96. The wet board 4 on the make-up roll 5 of a wound-board-making machine is cut by a knife 8 as disclosed in Specification 672,790 and suction from a box 6 applied through a rubberlipped mouth 6a and through a travelling felt 1 strips the severed edge of the board 4 from the roll 5. The travelling felt 1 may be intermittently driven, and may be moved into and out of contact with the make-up roll 5 by levers 7a, 7b, and 7c &c. it may feed the sheets to presses or to a dryer. A scraper as described in Specification 672,791 may also be used with the roll 5.
