Abstract
598,629. Machinery guards. WARING, F. E. Sept. 6, 1945, No. 22957. [Class 80(iv)] [Also in Group VIII] In a machine for cutting lengths of paper from a roll by means of a knife 13b mounted in a holder 13 which is moved transversely to the direction in which the paper is drawn from the roll, the knife is actuated by a lazy-tong-device actuated by depression of a treadle which is connected to a pivoted guard 17 which is moved down over the knife during the cutting operation. A stationary guard 15 is provided to function when the pivoted guard 17 returns to inoperative position due to the release of the treadle.
