Abstract
685,355. Screw-actuated valves. GROHE, F. March 21, 1951 [Oct. 1, 1948], No. 6773/51. Class 135. In a water tap for sanitary purposes comprising an upper body part a adapted to be screwed into a lower body part a<SP>1</SP> and internally screw-threaded to receive a screwthreaded spindle e having a hand grip f at its upper end whereby it is passed into and through the upper body part a from above before a valve disc k is attached to its lower end, a cylindrical recess x is provided in the lower end of the part a to receive a sleeve-like packing ring b and a corresponding holding ring c both disposed around the valve spindle below the screw-threaded part h and retained in the recess by an inwardly directed flange d on the upper body part a. The packing ring may be of chrome leather or other suitable material. The holding ring c is permanently secured by swaging over the flange d. The valve disc k which has a valve insert i is rotatably connected to the spindle e by swaging a rim m into a groove j in the spindle. In a modification, Fig. 2, a U-section packing ring n is held in position by a supporting ring p backed by a holding ring q.
