A conveyer belt b travels along a cast-iron trough a partly filled with water with its upturned edges engaging in channels e formed by two strips of rubber c spaced by a third strip d. The strips c, d, protected by metal plates f secured to the sides of the trough by rivets g or by nuts and bolts, may be formed integral by extrusion.
