The space between a main conveyer belt 1 and a spaced co-operating endless belt 2 is closed on each side by auxiliary endless belts 4. The latter may be of rectangular, circular, hexagonal, or trapezoidal shape, and may be hollow. They may be interconnected by rigid transversely disposed members. One or both of the belts 1, 2 may be of troughed formation.
