988,536. Endless conveyers. W. E. L. N. COPPEE. Sept. 8, 1961 [Sept. 9, 1960; April 6, 1961], No. 32299/61. Heading B8A. Conveyer apparatus particularly suitable for elevating loose materials comprises an endless band 5 which supports push plates 4 mounted on cross-pieces 3 driven by chains 1. Rollers 6 support the band 5. The plates 4 co-operate with the band to provide a number of conveyer compartments. The band and its supports are moved by friction by the driving of the matter being conveyed and by friction due to the weight of the cross-pieces 3, the plates 4 and the chains 1. To improve the driving of the band, the edges of the plates in contact with the band may be provided with rubber strips 12. In the embodiment shown in Figs. 3, 4, the band 5 runs on troughing rollers 6, 6<SP>1</SP>, 62 and the plates 4 are correspondingly shaped. The plates have triangular side panels 14.
