Abstract

665,026. Locking rods. AKTIEBOLAGET SVENSKA FLAKTFABRIKEN. June 16, 1949 [June 18, 1948], No. 16098/49. Class 80 (iii). A locking device for a rod or as shown a rope 6 for operating, for example, a ventilator comprises a member 5 secured to the rope and moving between parallel guide walls 7, 8 having a series of notches 9 in one wall and upper and lower openings 10, 11. From the upper position A of the locking member 5 the rope 6 can be pulled freely so that the member 5 assumes a canted position B. On release of the rope the pointed end of the member 5 will engage with one of the notches 9 as at C to jam it in the guideway and prevent return movement of the rope. If a further downward movement is given however the pointed end of the member 5 enters the lower opening 11 and on return or release of the rope cants the opposite way to allow free return movement to the upper position A. When the member 6 comprises a rod the locking member 5 is pivotally supported thereon and biased by, for example, a spring to a position crosswise of the guideway.
