698,367. Door-operating appliances. BESWICK, P. J. June 25, 1952 [June 26, 1951], No. 15085/51. Class 65 (i) Means for closing a fall-down door B<SP>1</SP> in the bottom of a railway wagon comprise a plate A detachably secured to the brake Vee hanger b of the wagon, and a lever c so fulcrummed in the plate that one end engages the underside of the door while the other end projects outwardly from the side of the wagon, the plate being formed with two lips bent or pressed out of the plate, one near the top and the other near the bottom, the lips being adapted to fit over the respective edges of one of the legs of the Vee hanger, and the lower edge of the plate being adapted to rest on the boss b<SP>1</SP> of the Vee hanger. The inner end of the lever is provided with a roller d, and the outer end is formed as a tubular handle C<SP>1</SP>. The fulcrum is constituted by a vertical notch in the plate adapted to co-operate with any one of a series of notches c<SP>2</SP> in the lever.
