Abstract
654,867. Feeding a hopper. WRIGHT'S BISCUITS, Ltd. Oct. 21, 1948, No. 4954/49. Divided out of 654,863. [Class 78 (i)] Apparatus for ensuring that biscuits shall be fed flat into a hopper so as to fall flat and to lie flat within the hopper comprises a surface extending up to the upper edge of the hopper 21 and over which the biscuits are fed forwardly and a roller 22 mounted rotatably and adapted to engage the upper surfaces of the biscuits at a position above and closely adjacent the said upper edge of the hopper whereby the biscuits are maintained flat until their trailing edges emerge from underneath the roller and pass over the edge of the hopper. As shown, biscuits 17 are fed along surface 20 either by pushing each other from behind or by endless conveyer and pass under roller 22 which keeps them level till they have cleared the edge of hopper 21 after which they fall into the outlet.
