651,627. Centrifugal blowers. MASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON. Oct. 15,1948, No. 26915. Convention date, April 23. '[Class 110(i)] A centrifugal blower comprises one or more volute chambers, each consisting of two parts which gradually increase in depth, an extension of one part 1a enclosing at least a portion of the other part 1b and increasing gradually in width. The inlet width 2 remains constant at about equal to the width of the impeller outlet, but the width may increase radially at an angle which is not detrimental, say not more than 6 degrees. The section of the part 1a gradually changes over the length of the part 1b from a rectangle 9 to a circle 8. The parts 1a and 1b may be inserted into the volute housing 1 in the form of sheet metal boxes. The guide walls 12 can be at last partly omitted after the part 1b. The volute is followed by a diffuser 6. Specification 542,468 is referred to.
