Abstract
646,694. Friction dampers. GEORGE & BECKER, Ltd., W. & J., and MORRIS, R. H. Oct. 29, 1948, No. 28075. [Class 108(iii)] [Also in Group XVIII] Oscillations of the beam of a chemical balance, or any other first order lever mechanism, are damped by the internal friction set up in a pair of chains, cords, or the like, each of which has one end secured to the beam and the other to a relatively fixed member. Longitudinally adjustable anchor members 6 form the connection for the chains 9a, 17a on the weigh beam, and drums 10, 18, rotatable about fixed pivots 13a, form the fixed members. In addition to forming a damping control the amount of chain unwound from these drums 10, 18 can be used for small weight adjustments and taring respectively.
