682,552. Letting-off warps. CELANESE CORPORATION OF AMERICA. June 29, 1950 [June 30, 1949], No. 16289/50. Classes 142(ii) and 142(iv) [Also in Group XXXIV] To compensate for the reduction in diameter of the warp as a beam 8 unwinds, one end of the beam is carried by a bearing 6 on a lever 5 pivoted at 4; the other end of the lever acts through a connecting rod 32, lever 27 and brake block 28 to apply to a brake drum 9 a load proportioned to the weight of the beam. The brake drum is geared so as to turn faster than the beam. The initial braking effort is adjustable by weights 37, 38. The brake block 28 is made of tool steel.
