Abstract

239,095. Tyer & Co., Ltd., and Dunkerton, J. G. Jan. 1, 1925. Wire, rod, chain, rope, and like compensators. -In a compensator for double-wire and like transmission systems of the kind which comprises two weighted pivoted levers A', each carrying a pulley C<3> over which one of the transmission members is passed, a clutch device being provided to allow the levers to move simultaneously in the same direction during compensation movements, but locking the two levers for signal operation movements and relieving the wires of strain due to the compensating weights, each lever carries an arcuate rack W<1> engaging a pinion N<1>, the pinions being supported on the same spindle and having clutch parts which lock them together and force them axially so as to hold the pinions against rotation during operation of the signal.
