[Class 94(i)] [Also in Group XXX] In a packing machine in which granular &c. materials are fed from a hopper to a bag, carton or other receptacle through a rotary nozzle b associated with an agitator c, Fig. 1 (not shown), extending into the lower part of the hopper, an adjustable, intermittent, rotary movement is imparted to the nozzle by means such as a ratchet wheel g which is coupled to the nozzle by bevel gearing and driven by a spring-loaded pawl i carried by a lever h having its fulcrum on the wheel axis, this lever being coupled by a link k to a variable throw crank driven by a pulley m and formed by a disc n having a diametral groove or slot in which a bar p to which the link is connected may be adjustably secured by a screw o.
