Abstract
755,415. Branding machines. BURGER, R. Dec. 21, 1954 [Jan. 2, 1954], No. 36939/54. Class 100 (2). A machine for applying brand marks to articles of wood or similar material, e.g. wooden boxes, comprises an eccentric h mounted on a shaft g and connected by a ring k and a rod to a pressure plate l which is resiliently mounted on springs m. The shaft g is driven through gearing e, f having a ratio of 1 : 2 from a shaft d, itself driven from a belt wheel b through a onerevolution clutch. When the clutch is coupled, the shaft g is rotated through half a revolution so that the pressure plate is moved from the uppermost position into a position in contact with an article on the fixed branding plate n. When sufficient time has elapsed for the branding operation to be effected the clutch is coupled again and the pressure plate returns to the upper position.
