Abstract

923,909. Machines for distributing road materials. R. G. SPARKES. Jan. 24, 1962 [March 2, 1961], No. 7652/61. Class 6(1). In a dispensing container for granular, chip and like material having an outlet through which material can fall by gravity a drum 12 is mounted for rotation in the lower end of the container. The drum is provided with spikes 11 and is eccentrically mounted on a spindle 10 so that the spikes 11 sweep through an eccentric path and break up any material which tends to build up in the region of the outlet. As shown a distributing rotor 14 is mounted below the outlet and has peripheral bars 17 which extend over the length of the rotor and are slightly twisted over their length. In a modification the drum is concentrically mounted on the spindle and the spikes are cranked over at different angles. Specification 861,529 is referred to.
