[Class 143] In a platform weighing scale in which the load counterbalancing means is situated away from the platform, a gathering lever, in a compound lever mechanism supporting said platform, bears on a bellows assembly in hydraulic communication with a similar assembly on the counterbalancing means. The load platform 10, Fig. 6, is supported on two levers 13 which are fulcrumed at 16 and have nose pivots 17 which co-operate with a link 19 which link also co-operates with a gathering lever 22 the nose pivot 26, Fig. 7, of which rests in a bearing 27 on a strut 28. This strut rests on a cap 32 attached to a bellows 29 and force communicated to said strut is converted into hydraulic pressure by the bellows and transmitted through a pipe 33 to a similar bellows 35, Fig. 4, which re-converts the hydraulic pressure into force which is transmitted through a strut 36 and a lever 41 to a rod 46. This rod is connected to a lever 48, Fig. 2, which in turn is connected to a pendulum counterbalancing mechanism which through a rack 56 and pinion 57 rotates an indicating pointer 58. In a modification (not shown) the rod 46 is operatively connected to a steel-yard counterbalance.
