[Class 143] In a hydraulic weighing scale wherein the load on the weighbridge 3, Fig. 1, is transmitted through liquid chambers 5 and pipes 6 to corresponding metallic bellows actuating load-counterbalancing means, each bellows 16, Fig. 3, has its closed end 17 in thrust-transmitting relation to the load counterbalancing mechanism and has its open end sealed to the wall of a liquid filled chamber 9 under liquid pressure proportionate to the load. Owing to the liquid pressure being applied to the exterior of the bellows buckling thereof is avoided. The pressures from the closed ends 17 of the bellows are transmitted by thrust rods 20 to adjustable knife-edges 22 on a common shelf lever 23 mounted on a fulcrum 27 and connected, by a rod 37 and adjustable knifeedges, to usual load-balancing mechanism including a tare beam, capacity-increasing weights and pendulous indicating mechanism. By adjustment of the knife-edges shown in Fig. 3, compensation may be effected for variations of size in the ends 17 and in the diaphragms of the chambers 5. The thrust rods 20 may be pivotally connected at both ends or at one end only. The upper ends of the bellows are adjustable along their supporting frame 13.
