Abstract

629,742. Metal-to-glass seals. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and HARRISON, W. J. D. Nov. 14, 1947, No. 30309. [Class 36] A flange 1 on a conductor 2 consists of a metal washer having a central hole slightly smaller than the conductor. The washer is deformed into a dish-shape and forced over the conductor and then restored to its original shape, whereupon it grips the conductor tightly, A glass bead 3 is then formed on the conductor and abuts against the washer 1. Two spaced washers may be fixed to the conductor in the same way and a bead located between them. Specification 567,521 is referred to.
