Abstract
629,140. Nail extractors. VAZQUEZ, A. A. June 30, 1947, No. 17183. Convention date, June 28, 1946. [Class 61 (iii)] A nail extractor comprises a lever 1 having a jaw 3 at one end, the other jaw 8 of the extractor being at one end of a bent arm pivoted at 12 to the lever 1, the other end carrying a roller 11 which runs on the surface containing the nail and serves as a fulcrum after the jaws have been closed. In an axial socket in each of the jaws 3 and 8, a pointed gripping tooth 4 having a notched recess for engaging a nail, is held by a grub screw 5, or the teeth may be fixed by a tongue and groove joint and held by a screw. The bent arm comprises a bar 6 pivoted between two upright side plates 7 fixed to the lever 1 and two lateral bearing plates 10 on which is mounted the roller 11. A tension spring 14 tends to keep the jaws apart. The teeth may be provided with serrations and ribs and both extremities shaped for reversible use. Parts liable to wear such as the limbs of the pincers may be made detachable. A locking clasp for the jaws may be provided.
