Pliers and pincers; holding and picking- up tools; reachers and long - arms. - Pliers, pincers, and like tools comprise a pair of jaws a, a<1>, Fig. 1, pivoted together and normally separated by a spring d, a handle b on the jaw a, and a lever e which is pivoted to the jaw a<1> and is adapted to act on the jaw a, as by means of a pin f engaging an inclined surface g, and is operated to close the jaws by the hand that grips the handle b. In a modification, Fig. 3, the jaw a is extended and terminates in a handle j, and the lever e is actuated by a finger-grip h connected thereto by a rod i. The jaw faces are provided with serrations, or are formed as spadelike gripping portions having teeth pressed out from one side.
