Abstract

611,190. Clutches. LISTER & CO., Ltd., R. A., and VASSEUR, H. F. April 25, 1946, No. 12457. [Class 80 (ii)] In a centrifugal clutch, weighted shoes 19 are supported on the driving member 11 by a rubber member 23, the interior face of a drum 12 being engaged at a predetermined speed. As shown, the drum 12 is integral with a driven pulley 13, the member 23 is of angle shape, and fabric or like linings are secured to the weights 19 with the rubber therebetween. In a modification, the drum 12 is fixed to the shaft 16 and the pulley 13 carries the weights 19 and is the driving member. Alternatively, the two parts of the clutch may be secured to the ends of coaxial shafts. This arrangement permits of slight misalignment.
