Abstract

603,201. Optical - projection apparatus. HANSEL, C. W. Nov. 12, 1946, No. 31532/45. [Class 97 (i)] An episcope or epidiascope comprises a stage for supporting the subject and an unconnected and independently movable support of open construction for the projection lens. As shown. the framework 1 has legs with adjustable feet 8 and carries a panel 6.with the projection lens 7. A framework 11 carries an inclined reflector 12 and the projected image is formed on the screen 13. The subject rests on the table 2 and is illuminated by lamps 10 from which light is reflected by mirrors 9. Alternatively tubular lamps may be mounted adjacent the projection lens. A transparent subject may be supported on a transparent stage and be illuminated from below. Instead of the adjustable feet 8 a separate subject stage, adjustable in height may be provided. The mirror 12 may be replaced by one built into a unit, which may be collapsable, with the screen 13, light shields for the screen being provided. In another construction the lens is connected to the table by a parallel motion device by which it may be moved at a fixed height over a large subject. Natural lighting is used and the image formed is viewed in a mirror without a screen.
