Abstract

707,877. Producing lighting effects. MINISTER OF SUPPLY. Oct. 17, 1951 [July 19, 1950], No. 18079/50. Class 132(1) [Also in Group XXI] Apparatus for forming shadow images on a screen subtending a large angle at the apparatus comprises an approximately point source of light wholly or partially surrounded by a cover having transparent .and opaque portions forming a silhouette, for example, a skyscape, the lamp being adjustable within the cover. The form shown is supported by the block 9 on a swivel mounting at the top of a telescopic stand. The block carries the lampholder 13 and is grooved to engage the slot 12 in a tray 11 supporting the spherical cover 15 on which the silhouette is formed by transfer, painting or photography. The tray 11 has a rim 19 which casts a shadow to represent an horizon.. The lower part of the cover 15 may be blacked out for the same purpose. Holes in the tray 11 assist cooling. A filament lamp or an arc lamp may be used.
