Abstract
602,987. Folding chairs. WATSON, C. Nov. 14, 1945, No. 30525. [Class 52(ii)] A folding chair of the kind provided with a fabric back and seat comprises a collapsable base frame and two collapsable side frames. As shown the base frame comprises two angle section horizontal members 10 interconnected by diagonal members 14 pivoted at fixed points 13 at the front of the members 10 and at the rear at adjustable points by means of headed pins 16 and slots in flanges 17 the diagonal members 14 being also pivoted together at 15. The members 10 of the base frame also form members of the adjustable side frames which comprise the said members 10 and parallel members 19 connected together by crossed diagonal members 22, 23 pivoted at fixed points 25, 28 and adjustably at the rear in slots 30, 33 the members 22, 23 being also pivoted together at 20. In addition side arms 39, 44 are pivoted to the members 19 at 37 the lower ends being provided with pins 41 adapted to spring into one of a number of apertures 42, 43 and lock the chair in its set position. The pins 41 and their bosses may be adjustable on the arm 39. The upper ends of the arms 39, 44 and the forward extensions 24 of the members 23 are provided with removable transverse rods to which the fabric seat and back 27 are attached.
