612,971. Folding underframes. BUCKERIDGE, N. V., and BUCKERIDGE, F. S. June 12, 1946. No. 17546. [Class 52 (iii)] Folding chairs of the kind comprising a flexible seat and side frames inter-connected so as to be collapsed side by side have their side frames connected together by two vertical panels which are pivoted to the legs and are hinged intermediate of their ends. As shown the side frames 1, 2, each comprising a front leg 3 or 4 and a back leg 6, horizontal bar 7 or 8 and an arm rest 9 or 10, are inter-connected by rule-jointed panel struts 24, 28 pivoted to the legs below the flexible seat 18. The panel struts are in two parts 26, 27 jointed together at 25 and if desired retained in the extended position by a pivoted latch 30. The back 15 comprises side arms 20, 21 interconnected by a pivoted bar 29 and a flexible sheet 19. The side arms 20, 21 are pivoted to brackets carried by the arm rests.
