[Class 52 (ii).] A folding seat comprises a pair of collapsable structures each comprising a number of independently collapsable X-frames, and a seating surface of flexible material such as canvas or fabric supported on each pair of the X-frames. The seat comprises, for instance, a pair of end frames consisting of uprights 10, 11, cross bars 12, and arm rests 13. The end frames are connected at the front by a pair of X-frames 15, 16, the upper ends of the members 15 being connected, by links 18, to a central upright 19. Similar X-frames connect the back members of the end frames. A canvas or fabric back 29 is stretched across supporting members 27, 28, and the seat canvas is secured to members connecting the X-frame members 16 to the corresponding members of the rear X-frames, and to a member 23 bridging the central uprights 19, 21. One pair of X-frames may be collapsed independently of the other pair, as shown in Fig. 2. In a modified form, independent seats are supported on cross members at the top of each X-frame, and the central uprights carry an arm-rest.
