Abstract
693,774. Seats. BROWN, N. C. Nov. 19, 1951 [Nov. 12, 1950], No. 28424/50. Class 52(ii) A folding chair having at each side a pair of parallel bars connected at their ends by a front leg and a back rest member respectively and a rear leg pivoted to the top bar and at a fixed point engaging the second bar the engagement being by means of a guide on the leg slidably engaging the lower bar. As shown at each side a pair of side bars 1, 2 are pivoted at the front to a front leg 3 and at the rear to a back rest side member 4 a rear leg 8 being pivoted at 7 to the upper pivot on the front leg and bar 1 and provided at a fixed location with a guide member 11 cooperating with, and slidable along, the lower bar 2. The members are connected by transverse members 5, 6, 9, 27 and a flexible seat and back 10 is provided. The guide member may take various forms comprising a member embracing the bar 2 and having a pin secured to the rear leg, a pin on the rear leg co-operating with a toothed slot in the bar 2 or a member 14 having flanges co-operating with the upper and lower surfaces of the bar 2 and having an integral loop 16, 17 the arm 17 of which may engage a notch on the bar 2.
