Abstract
596,694. Dandy rolls of papermaking machines. TROTMAN, W. E. K. Oct. 24, 1945, No. 28070. [Class 96] The dandy roll 10 of a paper-making machine is supported by ball bearings 19 in casings 16 surrounding hollow journals 11 closed by flanged discs 14. A pipe 20 supplies steam &c. which escapes through the mesh covering of the roll to prevent water and fibre being picked up by the roll. The journals may be moved axially for removing the roll. Parts may be of plastic. Specifications 596,693 and 596.695 are referred to.
